Our aim is to provide second-level students with valuable life skills that are applicable in third-level education and the world of work.

SparkED was traditionally conducted through in person workshops. However, we now present a virtual sparked programme. Find out more:

About us

Our Project History

SparkED is a student led initiative that was set up in 2017. It was set up by students of the University of Limerick and is part of a larger organisation called Enactus.

Enactus is an international organization that connects students, academic and business leaders through entrepreneurial-based projects that empower people to transform opportunities into real, sustainable progress for themselves and their communities.

SparkED is working towards the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4, the education goal. It aims to “ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.” We do this by working with students, especially those from disadvantaged areas, and provide them with the resources to help further their education and improve their career and future prospects.

We just want to say a big thank you to UBER for providing two of our TY students with an amazing work experience opportunity. The students shared accounts of their own experience. “Leon: The work experience was great. The staff were extremely nice and helpful, and I learned a lot about Uber and how they manage their business. Working in an environment with adults was also very helpful because it gave me a good indication of what working will be like when I'm older. Benard: My honest opinion is that the work environment at Uber was very relaxed and comfortable, and the staff members were very friendly. During my work experience, I learned different skills such as time management and gained an idea of how to manage a big company like Uber. Overall, I had a fun time, even though I had to step out of my comfort zone. We are grateful for the opportunity and would be delighted to do it again if given the chance. Thank you for having us.” We also want to say a big thank you to UBER for their continued support with DEIS student sponsorship!
